I know you might be burned out on the whole Conan/work hard image thing (I haven’t been on Tumblr in the past couple of days! I’m behind on any recent dramz!) but Tumblrer lineara left me a really thoughtful comment on the phenomenon:
I’m with you on celebrity-worship; I’ve never even watched an episode on Conan (or Leno for that matter.) But here’s the thing: I still knew exactly...
McCain...
Jesus Christ. McCain looks like he looked into the Ark of the Covenant MULTIPLE times.
Priceless =

Haha! Aaron Karo was my idol when he was writing Ruminations on CH. Now he’s ruminating about the workplace? More please!
Minnesota is cold...
Minnesota doesn’t need a weather channel. All they need to do is have a station that has the words “Yep…still cold” on the screen.
Finally saw Avatar...
I’ve been saying I need to go see Avatar for a while now, not necessarily because I was really excited to see it, but because I know that anything Cameron does instantly becomes part of pop-culture and so everyone would be talking about it.
No one cares, but I’m going to share some random thoughts on it in a random, bullet-pointed list.

It’s just a part of the emotional baggage of being a Sept. 11 survivor that I freak out a little bit every time some major disaster occurs involving some incomprehensibly frivolous loss of life: I freaked out a little bit during the Bali bombings, and again during the Spanish subway attack, and again during Katrina, and again during the tsunami, and again now.

American Idol...
American Idol is awesome during the first episodes. These people can’t be real, can they?
Saw this over on photographer Alexx Henry’s blog today. Haven’t checked it in a while so it seems this is pretty old. This is just another fantastic example of the evolution of photography. This is done with still photography and simulated camera movement.
Description per Alexx:
A brilliant 2.5D short piece from Magnus Engsfors. Stills shot on the Canon 5D with one Profoto flash,...
Create-Share-Sustain Paradigm
I can’t remember if I posted this before or not. Pretty sure I haven’t and I’m just mixing up other posts from Chase Jarvis because he’s got a pretty awesome life philosophy that I’d be lucky were I able to successfully emulate it. This is a post of his that came a few weeks (months?) ago, but he referenced it on a post he made Sunday.

CSI is Anti Gaga?
CSI: Miami just had a scene with a huge pop star catches fire from the pyrotechnics during a performance. She has big funky blond hair and huge sunglasses and is a dead ringer for Lady Gaga. Seems like the writers of CSI might not enjoy Poker Face as much as I do…

Take a boring photo with your 50mm f/1.8 prime wide open, with a small sliver of your subject in focus. Leave large portions of the subject outside of the focal plane, regardless of how important or interesting they are.
Rotate the camera 30 degrees before shooting.
Square-crop.
Oversaturate or slightly desaturate. Tint red to look old. Under no circumstances should...
I laughed out loud for about 10 minutes after I saw this.
